I just wanted to share with you a quick one minute video of 10 RECAP enclosures being manufactured in a 3D printer. As you may know this is the new technology that everyone is talking about, so I wanted to give you a quick glimpse of it being used to make the Kickstarter reward.
The video shows one layer of 250 microns being deposited. There’s a total of 108 layers in the design. After the nozzle goes through depositing material in one layer the yellow platform goes down 250 microns and another layer is then started. To put those numbers in perspective, a penny (US coin) is 1550 microns thick. So it would take 6 layers to make a part as tall as a penny.
Help!
I’m starting to manufacture the 200+ enclosures to deliver to the project supporters and I listened to the backers and want offer Recap in black and blue. Now, I need gauge the interest in other colors so that I get an idea of how many of each to make. If you’re a Kickstarter backer, your final color pick will be at a later time. If you’re a visitor and are may be interested in RECAP, I’m also interested in knowing which color you like best, so go ahead and fill the survey as well. This survey is just to give me a ball park number of how many I should manufacture. It will take you less than a minute to answer, and it will be much appreciated 🙂
