One minute PCB assembly and testing

I designed a variant of the DTMF Shield for Arduino that I am considering selling as kit. In order to make it easier for people to hand assemble these kits, this variant design uses through-hole components (PTH) instead of surface mount components (SMD). SMD components are ideal for automated assembly, but most people find too hard to hand assemble them due to their small size. Hence the motivation for a PTH version of my DTMF Shield for Arduino.

In the video below I have the parts kit and instructions in front of me. Just as I would ship to a customer. My objective is to verify that my instructions are correct and complete. No better way to verify than by actually ‘walking the flow’. The video I has a 32x acceleration, so a 30min job is shown in little over one minute. It’s a cool effect.

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could hand assemble a PCB in under one minute?
